12 Mar 2009 Our first week with Otto

Well,  I guess I have to admit it.  Gary and Deb have done it again.  What an incredible puppy Dakota Wirehairs has sent us.  Otto is shaping up to be an absolutely incredible dog.  He has big shoes to fill with Fritz here but I’m sure he will be ready and able for the job.

I called Gary yesterday and told him I debated sending Otto back cause I didn’t deserve such a puppy.  We all know that wouldn’t happen but part of me does feel that way.  I have been truly blessed with Fritz and I already feel equally so with Otto.  I almost can’t stand the wait to see them both in the field searching, pointing and backing each other.

After a week with us Otto is a good boy.  Hasn’t had an accident in the house, eats like a horse, Fritz even let’s him share his food bowl.  I guess Fritz likes the little guy too.  Most importantly as of three nights ago Otto isn’t even making a real fuss when I put him to bed for the night.  Couple whimpers and its off to quiet world till 5:00am.  He is giving me six hours of sleep.  Unbelievable!  I hope this lasts a little while (-:

All in all its been a great first week.  Otto couldn’t have come to us at a better time.

Yes,  We settled on Otto.  Wunder had a real running but his little face just kinda looked like Otto to Fritz and I.  Fritz is still kinda trying to figure out what to make of this new roomate.  His first reaction was Hmmmm  Looks alot like me when I was little.  The were both kind of offish last night but this morning….  Holy smokes they ran all over the back forty together.  As much as Otto could keep up in little spurts anyway (-:

02 Mar 2009 A day off…

Fritz and I got to play in the snow today.  We had the largest snowfall of the season in South Jersey.  Almost 12 inches.  You folks in parts further north will find this funny.  10 -12 inches of snow shut us down completely.  Schools closed, offices closed,  couldn’t buy a loaf of bread in the store last night.  I guess folks are afraid they will be standed for days.

As far as Fritz and I…  We just enjoyed the lazy day off and played int he snow.
